Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-04-23
This Privacy Policy explains what data the ELPS Online Helper collects, how it is used, and the choices educators have. The app is operated by Enabling Learning LLC. We are educators by background, and we have written this policy in plain language so any district reviewer or teacher can understand it.
1. What we store
When you create a free account, our database (hosted by Supabase) stores:
- Your email address
- Your first and last name (if you provide them at signup)
- Module completions (which of the 12 modules you have marked as completed)
- Capstone evaluation attempts (your answers, score, and pass/fail status)
- POK digital credentials issued to you on passing the capstone
- Lesson plans and tutoring session plans you generate and choose to save
- Pseudonymous student profiles you create within the app (we ask you to use placeholder names, never real student names)
We do not collect or store information about your students from external sources. We do not buy data, share data with advertisers, or sell data to third parties.
2. How AI features handle your input
The Veronica AI chatbot, the lesson plan generator, and the tutoring session generator send the text you type (your prompts, your teacher notes, the student profile fields you fill out) to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI is our AI infrastructure provider.
Per OpenAI's API enterprise data policy, inputs sent through the API are not used to train OpenAI's models. OpenAI may retain API request data for a short period for safety and abuse monitoring; refer to OpenAI's published API data usage terms for the current retention details.
You must not enter real student names or personally identifying information (PII) into any AI feature. The app provides pseudonym tools for student profiles; please use them. Our AI prompts now also instruct the model not to echo back any names that look like real student names, but the safest practice is not to send them in the first place.
3. Anonymous feedback
The "Feedback" form on the About page does not require an account. We do not collect your name or email through this form. We do log non-identifying metadata (the page you were on, a timestamp) for the purpose of preventing abuse of the form. Your message is sent directly to our team via email.
4. Cookies and authentication
We use Supabase authentication, which sets session cookies in your browser to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or analytics that share data with external advertisers.
5. Data retention and deletion
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at info@enablinglearning.com with the subject "Account deletion request" using the email address on the account. We will delete the account, module completions, capstone attempts, and saved artifacts within 30 days. POK credentials, once issued, may persist in the POK system; contact us if you want to revoke a credential.
6. FERPA and student data
The ELPS Online Helper is designed for educator professional learning and lesson planning. It is not designed to store student records, and we are not a "school official" under FERPA absent a separate written agreement with your district.
By following the pseudonym practice (and not entering real student names or identifying details into the AI features), educators can use the app without exposing student records to a third party. Districts that wish to use the app at scale should contact us at info@enablinglearning.com to discuss a Data Processing Agreement.
7. Security
We use HTTPS for all connections. Authentication uses Supabase, with rate-limiting on login and AI endpoints. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use Content Security Policy headers, X-Frame-Options to prevent clickjacking, and standard hardening practices for the Next.js application server.
8. Children
The ELPS Online Helper is intended for use by educators (typically adults). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can remove the account.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we collect or use data, we will update this page and update the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact
For questions about this policy, account deletion requests, or to discuss a district agreement, contact us at info@enablinglearning.com.
